The defending champion New York Knicks are loading up for another season, signing former No. 2 pick James Wiseman, veteran guard Bruce Brown, and wing Ochai Agbaji to Exhibit 9 training camp deals — all non-guaranteed, low-risk fliers.

　　With the payroll already tight, the front office is hunting for bargains. These Exhibit 9 contracts let the team kick the tires in preseason and, if someone goes down with a serious injury, cut bait without cap damage.

　　On top of those three, the Knicks recently added big man Drew Eubanks and shooter John Konchar. Given the current roster math, only one of these five experienced guys is expected to survive the cut. Translation? Training camp will be a brutal, all-out battle for that last spot.

　　The headline grabber here is Wiseman, the 2020 No. 2 pick whose career has been wrecked by knee issues and, last season, a torn Achilles. Now he’s trying to claw his way back. If he can flash even a fraction of the promise that made him a lottery prize, he’d give the Knicks some much-needed frontcourt juice off the bench. But that’s a big if.
